How to interpret this bass test

Low-frequency test tones can help reveal rattles, room resonances, missing bass, channel differences, or subwoofer crossover behavior. They do not measure acoustic frequency response without a calibrated microphone and controlled method.

Begin with your system volume low. Very low frequencies can require significant amplifier and driver excursion even when they do not sound subjectively loud. Increase level only as much as needed for a brief check.

Use a sweep to listen for sudden changes in level, buzzing, cabinet vibration, or room modes. Repeat from a different listening position because room acoustics can strongly change bass response.

Headphones, laptop speakers, soundbars, and subwoofers have very different low-frequency limits. A missing 25 Hz tone may simply be below the device’s useful range rather than a fault.
